As I began these paintings I felt dry. The kind of dry one gets from doing way too much in the outer world. Driving. Paying bills. Thinking. Worrying. It was clear I wasn't spending enough time in the interior of my being. So, I listened. I dreamed.

As the colors of earth and sky merge the nectar of the vast inner landscape was revealed. I drank.

Painting moves me into a primal mode. I am grabbing paints and mixing right on the surface. The reptilian, instinctual part of me is fully present and the conscious, cautious, careful me is gone.

Oasis is the memory of that experience – an offering to a busy world.
